Explore foundational questions about Jesus Christ, salvation and Christian life with supporting Bible references.
What is the Gospel?
The New Testament centers the Gospel on Jesus Christ, including His death for sins, burial and resurrection.
Paul states this summary and names witnesses. Read 1 Corinthians 15 in context; the Gospel is not a promise of worldly ease.
Who is Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, fully God and truly human, our sinless Lord and Savior.
Read each Gospel passage in its context; the statement of faith gives the ministry’s reviewed summary.
Read John 1:1–18; Colossians 1:15–20; Hebrews 2:14–18; Hebrews 4:14–16
Why did Jesus die?
The apostles teach that Christ died for sins and that His death brings reconciliation to God.
Read the surrounding argument and do not treat a verse as a complete theory of atonement by itself.
Did Jesus rise bodily?
Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead and appeared to His followers; His resurrection is central to the Gospel and Christian hope.
Read the Gospel accounts and Paul’s witness list; Christian hope rests on Christ’s resurrection.
How is a person saved?
The New Testament describes salvation as God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ, not earned as a wage.
Read the passage in context and alongside the biblical call to a life of good works as its fruit.
What is repentance?
Repentance means turning away from sin and toward God; Jesus calls us to repent and believe the Gospel.
The passages use repentance in their contexts; it is not a payment that earns forgiveness.
What is prayer?
Prayer is speaking with God in dependence, thanksgiving, confession and request.
Jesus warns against prayer as public performance and gives a pattern; no exact wording is required.
What does the Holy Spirit do?
The New Testament speaks of the Spirit giving life, helping believers and forming Christian character.
Read each passage in context; this brief answer does not resolve every secondary debate about spiritual gifts.
Why be baptized?
Jesus commands baptism in making disciples, and the New Testament connects baptism with identification with Christ.
Churches differ on some details of baptism practice. Discuss personal questions with a trusted church leader.
What is the church?
The New Testament describes the church as a community gathered in Christ for worship, teaching, fellowship and service.
The passages address real communities; do not use membership language to shield misconduct or prevent seeking help.
How should Christians respond to suffering?
Scripture gives room for lament, prayer, mutual care and hope in God; it does not promise every hardship will end quickly.
Seek appropriate medical, practical and pastoral help. Faithful care does not require facing danger alone.
What is eternal life?
Jesus speaks of eternal life as knowing the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent, and the New Testament locates this life in Christ.
Read John 17 and 1 John in context; eternal life is God’s gift, not a score for spiritual performance.
