Jesus welcomes children
Read how Jesus receives children and think about welcoming others.
Understand
Read Mark 10:13–16 with a trusted adult. People bring children to Jesus, but the disciples try to stop them. Notice Jesus' response. He welcomes the children and speaks about receiving God's kingdom. The account gives us words and actions to observe; we do not need to imagine children's names or invent what they said.
Being small does not make someone unimportant to Jesus. Receiving the kingdom does not mean winning a game or remembering every fact. Ask an adult to explain unfamiliar words, and read the passage again slowly. It is all right to ask questions. A quiz score cannot tell us whether Jesus loves someone or whether a person is saved.
Think about someone who has trouble joining a conversation or activity. Welcoming can mean giving them time, listening or asking a trusted adult how to include them safely. It does not mean following a stranger or sharing private information online. God's welcome leads us toward kindness, with wise boundaries and trusted adult help.
