Ephesians 2:8–10
Grace at the heart of our home
Start with the gift of salvation in Jesus Christ.
Paul teaches that salvation is God’s gift by grace through faith, not a reward for good works. Those made new in Christ are called to do good. Our family habits can help us follow Jesus; they cannot earn salvation.

Little hearts, welcomed by JesusMark 10:13–16; Luke 2:52
Jesus welcomed children, and Luke records His own growth in wisdom, stature and favor with God and people. Children can learn through listening, questions and patient care.
Try this: Read a short passage with a trusted grown-up. Invite one question or a simple drawing.
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)A faithful example, at every age1 Timothy 4:12
Paul encouraged Timothy to be an example through faithful words and conduct. Young people can follow Christ in their friendships, choices and responsibilities, with the support of wise believers.
Try this: What honest or courageous choice could help you follow Jesus this week?
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Nurture without provokingEphesians 6:1–4
Children are called to honor and obey their parents in the Lord. Fathers are called to nurture rather than provoke; caregivers can apply this with patient teaching and respectful correction.
Try this: Listen before you correct. Honor and obedience never require tolerating abuse or unsafe demands.
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Love expressed through careColossians 3:12–17
Paul’s teaching on compassion, humility and forgiveness addresses the Christian community. Married couples and other household members can practice those virtues through truthful conversation, shared responsibilities and considerate care.
Try this: Choose one way to lighten another person’s burden. Forgiveness is not permission for harm or a demand for unsafe reconciliation.
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Faith shared with gentleness2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14–15
Timothy knew sincere faith in his mother and grandmother and learned Scripture from childhood. Older believers can encourage others through prayer, faithful example and patient Scripture conversation.
Try this: Share one passage and listen to a younger person’s questions. Family influence does not replace personal faith in Christ.
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Wisdom begins with reverenceProverbs 9:10; Luke 2:52
Proverbs connects wisdom with reverence for the Lord and knowledge of Him. Luke records that Jesus grew in wisdom; we can seek God’s instruction with humility as we follow Christ.
Try this: Before a decision, read Scripture carefully and ask for wise guidance.
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Truthful words, patient kindnessEphesians 4:25, 29, 32
Paul calls believers to truthful speech, words that build others up, kindness and forgiveness. These are practical ways to reflect Christ’s grace in ordinary relationships.
Try this: Pause before speaking. Is the word truthful, necessary and considerate?
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Notice what Jesus has doneJohn 6:9–13
Jesus fed the multitude using five barley loaves and two small fish. Twelve baskets remained, showing His abundant provision in this miracle; generosity today is a response to Him, not a way to demand miracles.
Try this: Look for one safe, responsible way to share what you have.
Read the NKJV passage (new tab)Prayer with thankfulnessPhilippians 4:6–7
Paul encourages believers to bring their requests to God with thanksgiving. God’s peace guards their hearts and minds through Christ Jesus; prayer is not a guarantee that every difficulty will disappear.
Try this: Name one reason to give thanks and one need to bring before God, privately or together.

Rooted in the Gospel
Keep growing in Jesus Christ
Our hope rests in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose bodily from the dead. Turn to Him in repentance and faith; salvation is God’s gift by grace, not something earned by family routines or good works. Continue growing in His word, with the Holy Spirit’s help.
